We recommend to pay attention to the following points before purchasing damper from all producers of fire damper in our sector;
1. Is EN 1366-2 tested according to the standard revision published in October 2015?
In the tests performed before the October 2015 revision, the manufacturers were testing their dampers in just a single position and with this test the products was being documented as if being symmetrical and tested in the other position.
However, the October 2015 revision invalidates such certifications and states that in such cases, the symmetric default product must be tested in the other position so that the document can be considered valid.
In this case, similar products of companies that have been tested before the revision of October 2015, now are provided with an invalid certificate.
As Example: If a single damper was tested on the wall and the actuator was outside of the fire area, the classification was EI 120 (and i < > o) S.
With the revision of October 2015, to be "i < > o", it is necessary that dampers are perfomed to the same test and dampers need to be successful
Otherwise the certificate with EI 120 (and i < > o) S classification is considered as invalid.
In Link, You can access the relevant standard from TS-EN 1366-2: 2015 revision.
2. Dampers tested and certified in accordance with EN 1366-2, October 2015
- Wall mounting details
- The material stated in certificates and material properties (thickness etc.)
- Actuator brand and model need to be indicated
- In motorized dampers, the motor must have a thermal sensor.
3. If there are dampers to be used horizontally(in ceiling / wall passages) in your Project;
The same damper that is qualified for the wall must also be tested when the actuator is inside and outside.
Again, it should be ensured that the test standard is made according to EN 1366-2, October 2015 revision.
As Kes Klima family, we feel ourselves as responsible to inform investors, operators, contractors and all sector actors in our sector.
We kindly ask you, to give importance to the above mentioned issues in terms of competition morals.
